FALKENBERG LAB
MARINE ECOSYSTEMS & SERVICES
IN A CHANGING WORLD
The Falkenberg Lab based in UniSA STEM, University of South Australia and affiliated with the School of Life Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong focuses on understanding how marine ecosystems, and the services they provide to human societies, may be modified in a changing world.
Specifically, we are interested in exploring the how human activities can alter physiological processes to drive the persistence or collapse of marine habitats. We also consider how such change in marine ecosystems can then influence various features of human societies, such as our economies and health.
A key feature of this research is to recognise, and incorporate, the inter-connectedness of the issues we examine; to explicitly explore the links between the physiological, ecological, and anthropological consequences of changing environmental conditions.
